Important Update: Filing of Annual Returns for BVI Companies

The deadline for the first filing of annual financial returns (AFRs) by companies incorporated or registered in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) is Monday, 30 September 2024.

On 26 September 2024, the BVI Financial Services Commission (the Commission) announced that due to policy and logistical issues in ensuring full compliance for the first return deadline, neither the Commission nor the BVI Registry of Corporate Affairs will take enforcement action against companies and their Registered Agents for failing to meet the current deadline. The Commission also indicated that it will consider granting extensions to those companies and will provide further updates in due course.

In the meantime, BVI companies are still encouraged to submit their completed annual returns to their registered agents pending further updates from the Commission.
